Hi my 38'' Philips HDTV/LCD & it is "768P" resolution. NOT 720P. When I was playing my setting on my Xbox 360 menu, it could support up to 1080P instead of 768P or 1080i? Is this an error of my HDTV?

  1. Is it possible that you can choose this setting and it has no effect or do you know if that option is greyed out if you don't have an HD tv?

  2. Your question isn't very clear. But maybe the following will help.

Despite (I'm guessing) having a screen with 1366 x 768 pixels your TV is considered a "720p" model because there are really only three HD resolutions (720p, 1080i or 1080p).

Your TV will accept a 720p signal and "scale" it to fill the 768 vertical pixels of the screen. For more info on how see the link.

It will also accept a 1080i signal (since all HDTVs have to accept 720p and 1080i given they are the two choices that broadcasters use (at their choice)), but (probably) not a 1080p signal. To be sure check your manual.

That said, some XBox models will output a 1080p signal over HDMI, but as I said, I doubt your TV will accept it.

Use 1080i or 720p from the XBox ... whichever looks best to you ... and the output from the Xbox will be scaled by the HDTV to fit the screen (1366x768).

    Hope this helps.
