Hi my family has a toyota corrola (automatic transmission)and ....?

my brother shifted the stick from park to d-4 with out turning on the engine. when he realized that he put it back on Park and then turned on the engine...

Did he ruin the engine or any thing else??

No, but you probably experienced a feeling of the car rolling, that is because when you shift out of park when the car is on every speed is basically neutral. Nothing happened to the car, and it should be just fine.

he didn't do too much damage, but repeated actions like this can cause the park/neutral safety switch to become ineffective.

no its perfectly fine. it just was in gear than in park until it was put in park. i didnt even put a scratch on it lol
