so the course is only 2 miles. the first mile..totally flat. the 2nd mile..totally not. im going to have to tackle the "eliminator hill".

the name pretty much says it all. my coach last yr said when other teams got to the hill tears where flying...the f bombs were dropping etc...its the toughest course for any jv race.

now, i can easily run 2 miles without stopping, but thats only on flat ground. i dont really know how i'm going to tackle the hill. what should i do? slowly make my way up the hills or sprint the parts that are steep to get it over with? the last time i tried the course the 2nd mile was killer for me, i walked a lot.

my driveway is really steep and long, i live on a hill sorta. so should i practice running up that to build more endurance?

  1. yeah do the last thing you mentioned...like go to a hard hilly place and sprints up and jog back down...do quite a few of these...itll eventually payoff..and during the race be conservative about you speed going up the hill

  2. i agree with the guy above me, and when you're going up the hill make sure you really pump your arms, it will help a lot.
