  1. apply pressure with a towel or tissue or something, and call the vet right away.

  2. Have gerbil stew but drain the blood GaG!

  3. Alright, you will have to take the gerbil to the vet, fast.

Most likely your gerbil will not die form this, but if the tail has an infection, then your gerbil might!

This is why you need to take it to the vet and get the tail properly cleaned and taken care of.

  4. stop cutting it off!

dont lie, we all know you got mad at it and wanted to punish it

  5. I like how you have gotten ONE correct answer out of 14.

The gerbil DOES NOT need to see the vet.

Wrap the end of the tail, it will probably slough off on its own.

Gerbil tails are meant to fall off, it is a matter or self-defense.

For the time being, switch the bedding to Carefresh Ultra so it has time to heal without anything sticking to it.

A dab of neosporin will be just fine for now.

IF the bleeding doesn't stop, then call the vet and ask for advice.

  6. it will be ok, gerbils tails do come off sometimes, its a defense thing, it will soon heal up just make sure the wound it clean

  7. Uh go to a vet

  8. Call the vet

  9. Get some superglue

  10. Keep the bleeding part covered, wrap up the tail and go to a vet!!! (with the gerbil and tail, obviously) Right away! If your gerbil loses too much blood he/she could die!

  11. Don't panic! Gerbil tails come off really easily. (This happened to mine too).

"The gerbil’s tail with its striking black tip, is designed so it is easily shed if caught by a predator. The same thing can happen if you pick up the gerbil by the tip of its tail or if the gerbil gets its tail trapped underneath something. It looks awful. There is a lot of blood and the tail bone is exposed. However, 99% of broken tails heal without veterinary treatment. Within a few days, the bone just withers away and the gerbil is left with half a tail. It many not look as beautiful but its ability to get around and generally get on with its life is not impeded in any way."

  12. You had a gerbil tail? Its probably a good thing it came off but you should head to the hospital for the bleeding

  13. TAKE THAT POOR THING TO THE VET ASAP GET OFF THE COMPUTER RIGHT NOW AND SPEED OVER TO AN EXOTIC ANIMAL VET NOWWWWWW

  14. OMG how did it come off! Take a clothe and put it where the bleeding is so it will slow it down and rush to the animal hospital!

  15. it will be ok.  just make sure it's not bleeding heavily. put some of that cream for cuts on it.

  16. cover it and keep pressure but go to the vets immediatly
