Hi my son jsut got groments put in his ears a week ago got water in them

hi my son was in the bath and his earplugs felled out and he got water in his ears got the groments put in a week ago . i heard it is bad but will it cause any probs or be fine thanks

If the plug fell out after a week, you will have to follow up with his ENT surgeon. It is supposed to remain in there for a while.

As for the water, a little bit shouldn't be a big problem, but watch out for an ear infection. The risk is a little higher if the water managed to seep through the hole and into the inner ear, but it more likely didn't pass through the hole (water as too high a surface tension to pass through such a small hole given any lack of pressure).

Just remember to check with the ENT doc.

Hi, our son went through that, it was shear h**l for him until they put in the grommets, but I use to worry as well if water got into his ear, I would suggest to get a little powerful torch and see into the ear canal just to be on the safe side to make sure the grommets have not come out, that is if you can see.

Then on Monday morning phone his doctor, and ask, just to be sure, they may get you to take him down there.

The poor little mite, it is so cruel, as the doctors tend to let them have so many ear infections before they will do anything about it.
