These are both additives that you put in your expansion tank . it does not matter if there is anti-freeze or not .it is supposed to keep your engine upto 30% cooler . does anyone have any comments on how good these products are as i am thinking of adding some to my old 3 litre alfa, which tends to get very hot , very quickly when sitting in todays wonderful traffic jams .

thanks , gaz

  1. Save your cash and get the car fixed. The important word in your question is 'supposed'. Does your electric fan cut in as this is the commonest reason for overheating in traffic. Also the thermostat could well be sticking and not opening fully. And/or your radiator may need flushing out with a garden hose. No additive will cure these faults.

  2. They're designed for racing engines, where often glycol-based coolant is not permitted, to provide rust and corrosion protection in plain water, and do provide much better heat transfer properties at racing temperatures. Totally inapplicable to normal road engines, though the suppliers have spotted a niche in persuading the general public that they are useful.

As already said, you'd do far better to sort out your present cooling system.  If it's already at peak efficiency, add another electric fan.

  3. my advice is NOT to use it...if it works its just masking the priginal problem...you want your car to reach maximum running temp soon as possable ...causes less engine wear and gives maximum mpg...why not fix the problem or at least fit a lower temp thermostate....
