Copying a rental dvd would be illegal so i'm not going to tell you how.  Hypothetically though, one could download a dvd ripping program online.  Using said dvd ripper, one could simply insert a dvd in the disk drive, and probably rip any dvd they wanted.  That would be illegal and ill-advised though.

it is illegal to copy these disc's but if you want to take the chance you will need a programme that copie's  copy-protected disc's

eg  ImToo,Alchohol 120% etc .Juts type in dvd ripper in google address bar

Most movie DVDs has copy protection, if you want to copy it to your hard disc, you must decrypt the copyright protected dvd first. Otherwise, Although you copy the *.vob files to the hard disk, but most media players cann't it. My friends recommend me to use E.M. Free DVD Copy to copy DVD moives.
