  1. Yes, but time marches on so I try to learn new things and swear a lot too.

  2. Advertised here in the UK ...."So simple, even a child can do it'' (programming a VCR to record).

Unfortunately, ours did not include a child to operate it when we bought it.  (I know, I searched all very thoroughly through the boxes and packaging for one 10 year old child ~ or similar.)

Even my PC ....what is said to be 'straight forwards' ~ in Photoshop, for example, IS NOT.

So, yes, I do struggle, and I often simply practice ''avoidance'' of those areas which do bring a pain of frustration.

    Sash.

  3. Some tell me I have a problem with change.  I do not think it is that.  I just like simple things. haha I think my problem is I am more in tune to the things outdoors and anything electrical...leave it on for me  and if it breaks or crashes...HELP!!!!! LOL

  4. Oh, yes. I think basic things have become more complicated than they used to be. I taught myself to use a Mac, and I know how to work a dvd player, but it's more complicated than a record player.  Even with a TV, you have to input so many things, that before all you had to do was push a few buttons.  My kids are whizzes at electronics.  They keep telling me it's so simple.

  5. No, I can learn new things.

  6. I'm all for new things that make life easier or more convenient.  A week ago a utility worker cut a line and everyone was without cell phone, debit card or computer.  I had forgotten what it was like and I didn't like it.  I like to be able to call anyone no matter where I am and look anything up I want to know on the computer and I like to play movies when I want to see them and all the rest.  I actually had to have cash. . .Give me technology. . .

  7. That is an understatement dizz I am still having trouble downloading and cut and pasting not to mention trying to program my new answering machine, I feel like tossing it out the back door, grrrrr

  8. Well I was a graphic designer, so as soon as desktop computers came out we had to learn to use them. I've been at it since 1982, so I'm pretty adept at them. But I couldn't tell you the difference between an Ipod or a Blackberry or an Xbox-- I am clueless!

My dad bought his first computer at age 77. He was fascinated by technology and never wanted to stop learning new things. The problem was he was always a bit too curious, and would go into the directory part of the pc and really foul things up. More than once he had to call Dell and they would wallk him through it to get it back running. He used to tell me he knew just enough to be dangerous! God love him!  :)

  9. Heck yes. If you have been following any of my questions or answers you will know that I feel dumb as a box of rocks when  it comes to these new fangled things. Yes it does have to do with age for a lot of us.  Several years ago I could remember when someone explained it to me.  Now I can't remember the most simple tasks on this computer.  I have to be told over and over and I have to perform, the task several times in order to remember.Mainly my son will write each step down for me so I can check it when I get stumped.  He's a trucker so he can't be here all the time------so-----we're on the phone a lot.   LOL Cell phones give me all kinds of trouble.  My son wants to get me a camera phone, but what good would it do me?  I'd never be able to figure it out.  My 9 tear old grandson knows more than I do abouit a computer.  It's because they grew up with them and learned early.Kids today know so much more than I do about these things.  t, wisdom and experience in other things they have to come to me.

  10. I drove cars trucks and flew small planes but I can't turn the radio off in my car after the grand kids turn it on after I do figure it out I find it's a cd playing and can't get it to stop

  11. Sometimes when the instruction manuals are translated into English the translations are not traditional, and that can be quite confusing.  I've found that trial and error works pretty well sometimes.  Of course when you have six wires and six holes, sometimes it takes a while to figure out the right sequence.

  12. I get a little behind. But when I want or need to learn something, I dig right in to it. (I have worked with computers/electronics the last 44 years.  I figure also if it is broken, then I can't make it mush worse. LOL

  13. i know i am worse than you -- anymore i just learn enough to get by -- i could care less about the finer points -- but i do feel i would be a wonderful candidate for a company to see if there instructions are complete -- i always follow them step by step when putting together and they always over look something important that when i call and question them they say something like "we just figured folks would know that part of the process"!!!

  14. I've managed to keep up so far but it's a real pain!

  15. I have a hard time understanding today's technology too.  If I have trouble understanding something I usually ask my grand children or my nephew who is very knowledgeable in computers.

  16. No. I just try to adapt as soon as I can.

  17. i worked for a satellite company for a while so i figured i could install my new dvd/vcr - not a chance!  i swear they had someone go through the instructions to see just how unusable they could make them.

  18. I've known about cell phones for a long time now but just got one about a month ago. I hardly ever use it. I bought a upright fan last week and it took me an hour and a half to put the stupid thing together. I'm just learnig the computer myself, as long as I can be in here, surf the net, I'm all set!

  19. Oh lordy, yes I do! My son went out and bought me a really nice euthanasia machine. I couldn't get the darn thing to work! As a result, I'm still alive. :(

  20. Oh yeah! I used to get my husband to do all that hi-tech stuff. Now that he has passed, my children and grandchildren help me.

I did with no help set up my bill pay with my bank tho. Most satisfying thing for this lo-tech person and saves me so much time! Banking on line is one of the best benefits for me.

  21. Gosh yes - hate these gismo's that have about a dozen functions and you have to push allot of buttons to use them.

  22. I'm Trying to stay as current as possible but some days its a little difficult understanding how all the software works such as linking an i phone to my computer etc. Also I'm not the fastest at text messaging.
