1. yes -- one major one and several minor ones -- and every time like you i came back stronger!!! it is just mind over matter -- if you do not mind it really does not matter!!!

  2. Hi Dizz. So far the only thing I can list is the arthritis that is developing in my hips. When it first started I was a big baby about it because I wasn't used to having to deal with anything like this. Now,after a few years of learning to cope with the chronic pain I find I don't dwell on it as much, I've just learned to make adjustments to my way of life. I'm proud of the "senior wisdom" it's brought me that life goes on and some things you just can't change. Good question!

BTW, congratulations on your first violation! We've all been waiting for you to "cross over" with the rest of us!!- - LOL

p.s. Spell Checker wants me to correct the spelling of "Dizz" to "Dizzy". It's having a fit over here!!!!! HAHA

  3. Yes, one in my 20s and also three yrs ago, but after grueling top physical therapy I am doing very well.

  4. Yes, I have and am still fighting a medical problem, you are right you get stronger. Seems like when you hear others you just go on and realize you are so lucky!

I had my labour day question deleted. violation. so i understand. Guess ill stop asking. sad there are so many problems here.

EDIT: Thanks D. So true. xoxox

    have a good day

  5. Emotional problems, yes. Losing my son was a biggie. I learned soon enough that it was best to get back to work and be with others, instead of sitting at home feeling sorry for myself.

There used to be a phobia about storms. I made myself a place to be comfortable in the basement while it thundered overhead. That's much better now. Don't even have a basement in the place where I live now.

  6. I have had joint pain for as long as I can remember and in the early 90's I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis which has become progressively worse as each year passes. I was confined to a wheelchair for 8 years as it was too painful to walk but after a severe asthma attack and high doses of steroids I was able to build my leg muscles back again and only use the w/chair occasionally now.

In 1989 my husband was diagnosed with rheumatoid in his spine but in recent months we've discovered he was misdiagnosed and actually has Ankylosing Spondilitas. Due to the AS going undiagnosed for so long he has also developed Osteoporosis and is badly deformed in his spine and neck and is practically doubled over and cannot straighten up at all.

10 years ago our, now 18 yr old, daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Chronic Arthritis and she has had to learn to deal with the pain she is in all the time.

We have all become stronger from the pain we are all in and even though some days are unbearable we get through them. Our daughter is now attending college and intends to go on to work with disabled children when she is fully qualified. She has recently passed Level 2 of the course with a Distinction and she is now taking the level 3 course.

We gain strength from each other and as each year passes our pain threshold increases.

We like to try our best to see everything in a positive way although there are some days when we have our own pity parties too lol.

Life can be unkind to some but we always remind ourselves that no matter what pain we have and what restrictions we have with our lives there are people out there a lot worse off than we are and we also have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food in our bellies which is a lot more than some people have. xox

  7. In answer to your question : Yes, I have had problems with diabetes 2. A major weight gain was the first symptom.. . then foot atrophy. It has been 4 years, and I have gone from wheelchair, to walker, to walking on my own now. I am not as physically active as I once was, but hopefully with more exercise and weight loss (-85 lbs now) I will improve even more . . .motivation is the major key . . . and yes, it has made me a stronger person !
