to need to call the UK borders and immigration help line number.  On one or all of your reply letters you will have an application/case number which you can use as a reference to your specific case.  once you call up a customer service rep will ask for this if you have one (which you will) and your detils will come up and any status info will come up. if there is none, someone can create a case to find out the progress, the speed of reply my vary depending on the time of year and how early on in the proccess you have called.
