  1. The hours of service for a truck driver are:

14 day starting from the time they do their vehicle inspection until they log on line 2 for their break. Breaks must be either 8 hrs and 2 hrs combined to make 10 hrs or it must be a consecutive 10 hr break. If a driver is sitting at a customer and logs line 2 (bunk) for 3 hrs, 2 of those hours can count towards a split break meaning that the next time the driver stops, they only need an 8 hr break to get back the hours they drove before taking the 2 hr break. Confusing isn't it? As for driving, a driver may now drive for 11 hours during their 14 hour work day. If they are unloading the truck, they log on line 4 (on duty not driving) and their driving time is halted, but their 14 hour clock is still running. Hope this helped and didn't do more to confuse you!

If you print it off, you can read it at your leisure (probably several times if you're like me).
