  1. Hi!

Where did you get you whip snake - that's it isn't it?

    I would love to know.

    Cheers Bella Rose!!!

  2. I assume you mean water python?

Some are notorious for being snappy as hatchlings - so when handling I suggest to get a small snake hook to initate contact in his enclosure, then transfer him to your hands once out.

Never pull your hand away if he manages to bite you, you can injure their teeth which may lead to a mouth infection. Most bites are just defensive, which means its an instant strike and they will let go straight away - a hatchling will hardly hurt anyway. =)

So yeh if you've done your research you should be ok with everything, feeding is generally once a week on an appropriate size rodent which leaves a lump - but not a huuuge lump. Keep in mind feeding live in Australia is illegal, so please feed fresh killed or frozen thawed.

As in the name - they love water, so also provide a large bowl they can happily swim around in if they wish to do so.

Good luck with your new snake, im sure you'll love it! If you ever need any more information, you can sign up to this forum - its an Australian site and people are very happy to help out!

  3. Most importantly, handle it whenever possible so it is used to it and its chances of being aggressive are much less (except for a couple days after it eats and when it is shedding). Also, be cautious of its environment that the humidity and temperature are correct.
