  1. The cotton wool-like growth sounds like a sign of fungal infection, which can easily be treated with an anti-fungal medicine from your local pet store. The sooner the fish are treated, the better the chance of survival. Good luck

  2. it might just be alagae Your 1st goldfish probly died of , well, goldfish can live up to 15 years, but you know how they always die within the first day or so

  3. It's fungus. two things you need to do:

    1. Change the water more frequently. Fungus only happens when the fish are stressed due to poor water quality.

    2. Go to the pet store and get medicine for Fungus. Treat as prescribed on the bottle.

    Good luck!

  4. Algae?! Its not algae as the first poster said. It sounds like a fungus, which would need to be treated with anti-fungal medication.

However, It could well be columnaris which is always pretty much fatal, a nasty bacterial problem primarily triggered by bad water conditions. This is a highly contagious problem and can remain in a tank once all the fish have died. You can try and treat wih meds including copper sulphat and terramycin, but it isn't a guaranteed cure at all.

  5. add rocksalt with methylene blue and good aeration and do daily water change of 10 percent

  6. get to the pet shop quick, its a disease but if you get the drops quickly enough it is cure able

  7. There is fungus among us! What size tank do you have? Do you have them n a bowl? They need 20 gallon for the first fancy goldfish and another 10 gallons for every one you add after that. You can but fungus medicine at the pet store. Like this type

If you have common or comet goldfish, they need a 50 gallon tank for every 2! Yes, lots of space, the smallest goldfish will get at  least 6-8 inches if given the proper care.

  8. Unfortunately not enough info here.

If the "white" around the mouth looks like cotton chances are it is a fungus and you need to get a broad spectrium antifungual.

As for columnaris this is usually around the mouth and gill area and in most cases is NOT fatal and is easily treated with an antibacterial medication. Copper Sulfate is more of a  fungicide and does little as an antibacterial.  Terramycin is a better choice or any antibacterial.

,Follow the directions and do it quickly.  Columnaris is contagious and spreads via nets, filters, water etc.

It can be treated if not left to go too long.

Also, never add salt to a goldfish tank.  Salts harm goldfish more than they help.
