1. KFC has veggie burgers?

hasnt been there for years due to their heinous abuses.

    but anyways

Tofu can be found at most grocery stores. check in organics.

how to cook with it is hard to answer

I can think of hundreds of ways that I have tried. and in anything in any way. search for veg recipes online for whatever you want really. I have an old cookbook that specializes in everything tofu. but I cant just give you that :(

  2. Just tell your parents this means a lot to you, and it would mean even more if they supported you on this. In the groceries stores in my town, there's a whole tofu section. There's like veggie burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, sandwich meats, taco meat, like anything you want! But you have to search around your town's grocery stores. Good luck!

  3. your parents are just old school my mother still will not eat tofu if she is told it is in something so I slip it in she can't tell.

You can go to most super markets and purchase tofu lots of them to chose from silken, soft, firm and extra firm. But that's not all you can also get flavored tofu and egg substitute just to name a few. You can ask your mom to get some tofu "meats" you can get a ground beef style, a ground sausage style, peperoni, sliced meats style for sandwiches, hot dogs tofu cheese. God a lot more. keep looking on line for more recipes check out resipezar and vegan and vegetarian websites. your not doing a freeky thing your mom and dad may like some of the foods

  4. Here is a small list of foods.

I strongly recommend that you start learning how to cook(and clean up you mess afterward). You don't need any special foods and if done correctly, being vegetarian is super cheap.

If your parents won't buy tofu, no problem.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

It may help you if you see proof that vegetarians have the same potential as anyone else.

If you need meat or dairy during any stage of your life or to live any certain lifestyle, why does the American Dietetic Association say otherwise?

  5. First of all, KFC has a veggie burger? Wow. KFC is gross, but wow.

Good vegetarian foods...pasta with tomato sauce (a little cheese if you'd like), veggie burgers (with lots of vegetables!), stir fry (make sure it doesn't contain animal broth or fat), lentil soup (you can buy it canned, but check the ingredients for animal broth. Progresso lentil soup states that it's vegetarian on the can.), black beans and rice, bean burritos (get fat-free or vegetarian refried beans, as regular refried beans have lard in them), rice with mixed vegetables and vegetable broth, PB&J sandwiches, hummus and pita bread, cereal (none with marshmallows...also check Wheaties-type cereals. Both may contain gelatin.), fruit, veggies, tofu (you can get it pre-marinated, but it's cheaper and more fun to do it yourself.), salad, nuts, and a million other delicious things.

You can get tofu at most grocery stores. Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Giant, Tri-Star, Trader Joe's...I'm sure you have at least one of those. Trader Joe's is great if you can find one near you; they have great vegetarian stuff. I've seen a plain brick of tofu go for anything from $.99 (at Trader Joe's) to $2.59 (at Food Lion). I can make one brick last several days when I'm the only person who's eating it, and I eat fairly large amounts each time.

To cook your tofu, you have to open up the package and drain the water into the sink. Then, you have to get clean dishrags or paper towels and press the extra water out of your tofu. I suggest getting a plate out, putting your rag/towels on it, putting the tofu on top, placing another rag/towel on top, putting another plate on top, and then finishing it off by balancing a few cans on top of the top plate. You can also press the tofu by hand with the towels, but it's messier (I always get wet. But, of course, I always make a mess in the kitchen.) and the tofu might not be so good cosmetically. It might crumble/squish/become deformed. That's okay, though. While/after you press your tofu, prepare a marinade. There are plenty of amazing marinade recipes online, or you can use peanut sauce, barbecue sauce, or (one of my favorites, especially when the tofu is put on a salad) Italian dressing. When almost all of the water is out of the tofu, slice/cube it and then brush on the marinade. Let it sit for as long as you want (15 minutes should suffice, but the longer the better.), then put it on a cookie sheet and bake it at 350degrees for...er...15 minutes? Keep an eye on it. It should look baked, not spongy like it went in, but you don't want it burnt either. Flip it over. I kind of ad lib when it comes to making tofu, which is why it's so fun. Grease the sheet unless you used a particularly oily marinade, like Italian dressing. It'll be really gross if you grease it AND use an oily marinade, trust me.

You can also grill or fry your tofu, but baking is my method of choice.

Try out a lot of different things.

Yeah, and you're going to have to learn how to cook for yourself. Don't worry, if you go at it with a positive attitude, you can have a ton of fun with it, and you'll really impress your friends :) Look for a vegetarian cookbook that's specifically designed for kids or college students. Most of the recipes in those books are designed to be easy, cheap, and prepared without super-fancy kitchen stuff. Be creative in the kitchen, and do crazy stuff (No, I'm not talking about crazy stuff that will burn down your house or get yourself hurt. Seriously, if you don't already know how to work the stove/microwave/toaster/grill/knife/etc.... ask your parents for help.) and you'll be able to create lots of unique vegetarian snacks and meals for yourself.

  6. Hi. Some good vegetarian foods include a variety of fruits, variety of vegetables, nuts (almonds cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, etc), beans (black, pinto, baked, kidney, etc), seeds (flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, hemp, etc), soy products (tofu, TVP, tempeh, fortified soy milk, miso, etc.), quinoa, seiten, nutritional yeast, chickpeaa, seaweeds, lentils, seitan. Tofu is great! You can bake it, fry it, boil it, bread it, stuff it, BBQ! You can make a stir-fry with other veggies, put it in soup, scramble it with veggies and nutrional yeast and make tofu scramble.

There are tons of good tofu dishes! Tofu can be found at grocery stores. Any specific kind you are looking for? There's so many but here are some good ones:
