Hi what is the difference between 5.1 channel & PCM 5.1 (Uncompressed)?

Hi I have 38''Philips HDTV/LCD & Playstation 3. I do not have audio receiver of 5.1 channel. When I play Blu-ray movies, should I set it 5.1 channel or PCM 5.1 (Umcompressed)? Thank you.

  1. Your TV can only play two channels (left and right), so just send PCM.


  2. nothing really. just another marketing scheme like gold plated hdmi cables
