  1. First of all Bose is not the best. People think they are because of tv commercials but once you listen its clear they aren't.  They best speaker makers around that aren't ridiculously priced are:

    Infinity

    JBL

    difinitive tech.

    polk

    klipsch

There are a couple others but you have to listen for yourself because people have different tastes.  You will find that $400 speakers from many makers sound better than $700 bose speakers. DONT LISTEN TO SALESPEOPLE!!! Listen to the speakers

  2. Bose

    is for con-

    venience (and

    you will pay a pretty

penny for it), but not so

much for value, not to mention

    relative performance.  I recommend

Hsu Research for a modestly priced, super

high performance surround sound speaker system

with a phenomenal powered sub.  Awesome.  I

have the VTF-2 Mk3, and it is stupendous!

  3. I have a set of Harmon Kardon speakers and a 200 Watt subwoofer which sound great.  The company makes quality products.

  4. I did a lot of research on this before buying my own speakser and I found Onkyo to be the best by far.  They are not the smallest but they sound exceptional for the price and the entire Onkyo home theater system sounds incredible.

  5. You don't state your budget, so it's difficult to suggest a specific model.

See the recommended systems at the first link, and you may also want to look at the other two sites as well.

Speakers are personal and you really have to listen yourself rather than take someone else's opinion. That said, review opinion, price, style and local availability/support are something you can use to help cut down the choices.

As to Bose speakers, you can do better for less money with models from many manufacturuers. See the last link for an article on Bose.

Finally, I assume you are aware that your TV alone won't drive the speakers --- and that you need a amplifier or reciever (~$300 and up) to make them work. Onkya, Pioneer, Yamaha, are just some of the makes that come to mind.

Also note that TV sound is only surround (5.1) on some programs, not all, so unless you plan to listen to movies via DVD I wouldn't put too much money into a surround system for just TV.

    Hope this helps.

  6. For the cost of the boss you can get a model from Definitive Technology "Mythos" line. You can not go wrong. They are not cheap but they will provide you with exceptional build and sound quality. They are designed with the idea of being placed/mounted along side and above or below the TV. They are very highly regarded.

With Definitive Technology you almost always get more than you pay for. It never goes the other way around.

  7. go to a store that you can afford and listen to all the speakers.  pick what sounds best to you.  your hearing is different then mine and everyone else's.  speakers that i like may sound like c**p to you and visa versa.  good luck..... and oh yeah, bose is far from the best..... well, maybe the best marketed, but not best quality.

  8. Yamaha. you can probably get a nice 5.1 channel at bestbuy.  Check out the link. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

  9. its not boss its bose and yes they are the best but the are also the most expensive a good bose system can run you in the thousands i would suggest a good sony or samsung surround system if you dont have the scratch for the bose
