I have an old sony handycam with no firewire or USB connections, i was wondering if there is any way to put the footage on those tapes onto a DVD. Thanks!

  1. These other answers are correct, but keep in mind it could take you an entire weekend just to figure out what you need and try to make it look right. Check out a video services company, they can get you a great looking DVD and for cheaper than your time is worth...

  2. go AV out to dvd recorder AV in.

thats the three coloured plugs (yellow/red/white) into the dvd and cam.

    that should be ok.

if you want to edit, i would suggest triple rca out of hi8 to 3.5 mm triple jack into mini dv cam/hdd camera.

than import tapes as you normally would into your NLE. (movie maker of imovie)

    hope it helps!

  3. You need to connect the camcorder to a PC with an A/V (Audio/Video) input. Or, if your cam has an S-Video output (most probably it has one), some PCs with a video capturing board installed, include the SVideo input jack.

Anyway, you have to capture the footage on a PC first and then use "Ulead V Studio" or other editing software to write a DVD.
