  1. 1) Your tank is probably over-stocked, but I don't know the size so..?

    2) There is like no compatability between these fish!

    3) Buying them all and introducing them all to a new tank that was most likely NOT cycled (if its a new tank and new filter) is never a good choice (search google on why cycling is important)

    4) If the goldfish arent the fancy kind (if they are single tailed) they will beat out everyone for food and eat it all before the rest can get any.

Take the fish back, get educated, then get new fish that are right for your tank.

  2. you have too many fish, and not the right tankmates; they're all mixed up and bcuz of that and you just throwing them in together at once its causing them to die quickly. sry for the 3 that have already died.

  3. it can be :

less Oxygen due to bad air circulation .

or too much food that blocked their breathing .

    or little food

or the wrong kind of food

or little tank or different species so they kept biting each other  .

that what came to my mind .

  4. you should have set the bag with fishies down into the tank

and let it set for a few days

    this gradually changes the temperature

the bag is permeable(allows stuff through it) so the chemicals will balance out gradually without putting the fishes into shock

  5. it could be a number of things. the temperature could have been too warm or too cold for some fish, maybe you didnt put in water conditioner, or maybe one fish was sick and got the rest of the fish sick, take in a water sample into a local pet store to test it. And if you got your fish from petsmart or petco, you can probably get a refund.

  6. Your fish are dying b/c you overstocked your tank too quickly. Even if the tank was a larger tank, that many fish in an uncycled tank is going to cause ammonia to rise VERY quickly to a toxic lvl.

You need to do more research.. 1 on fish compatability, and 2 on the Nitrogen Cycle.

Take the remaining fish back to the store, and do a fishless cycle in the tank. While the tank is cycling, do your research on fish.

A big list of fish with very basic info. Has pics though of most of them, so you can see if you like the look. If so, then you can google up more info about the fish.

  7. As someone else said, you should never introduce that many fish to a tank at once. And what size is your tank? You may also be overstocking. Not to mention that goldfish should be kept only with other goldfish. They are coldwater fish, and the others that you named are all warmwater. And what do you mean by "shells?"

Anyway, a very large number of things could have contributed to the death of your fish. I suggest you do more research next time, and try to save the survivors.

  8. First, the compatability of the tankmates is awful. Goldfish are coldwater fish, I don't understand why everyone insists on putting them with tropical fish.

If you just purchased this tank, and flopped all of these fish in it without cycling the tank, then they probably died from an ammonia toxicity. You need to cycle tanks before plunking a ton of fish in there. How big is the tank anyways? Goldfish will need about a 55g tank, depending on what they are (the short "stubby" fantail ones need less space than the regular comets), which needs to be a COLDWATER tank. I'm just hoping you don't have all of these plunked into a ten or twenty gallon tank. :/

Added: The person that said to float the bag for DAYS is NUTS! The bags you get from petco or other petstores are NOT permeable. Kordon Breather Bags are permeable, but only AIR permeable, once you place them in the water, the gas exchange stops (search for more information on google for this). If you float these poor fish for DAYS, you're going to kill them. :/

  9. New tank syndrome.

When you set up a new tank it has no biological filtration to process the waste ammonia the fish produce. If you add a full population of fish the waste ammonia they produce just builds up in the water and poisons them.

Thats not even starting on the mix of fish. Goldfish and tropicals need different water temperature, and Neons usually end up as Angelfish food.

Take the goldfish back now, that will help with the water quality issues. Get a water test kit and monitor the water for ammonia and nitrite buildup. Do extra water changes as needed to keep these levels low untill your filter cycles.

Have a read of the link below, it expains how the tank cycle works, or doesn't work in your case..

  10. You set yourself up for failure.

    1) you didn't cycle your tank

you can not buy a fish tank and put fish in it on the same day.  there is no bacteria in the tank to get rid of the waste and ammonia.  a tank needs to run empty for two to four weeks before adding fish, unless you cheat. and I don't recommend that, but now you have no choice.

go to the pet store and get a bottle of bacteria for starting an aquarium.

    2) your fish are not compatible

angel fish do best by themselves.

mollies like some salt added to the water, neon's don't

goldfish are a cold water species water temperature of 33 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit -- no heater-- also need to be kept by themselves.

neon, angel fish, and pleco (all tropical fish) require a heater and require water temperature around 70 to 80 degrees.

    3)  you will need to do daily water changes until you tank becomes cycled.  buy a test kit, and check your ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite levels daily.

    4)  put ammonia rid and carbon in your filter to help balance your tank until it cycles.

    5) you need to seperate the goldfish from the others at a minimum. get another tank or give them away

go on line and read some articles on starting an aquarium.

you are not the first person to make this mistake.  its actually the fault of the salesperson at the pet store all they want is to sell a tank and fish.

  11. first of all i wouldnt put angels with other fish but the gold fish is good otherwise angelfish should go in species tank only

  12. I'm guessing that you didn't pre-treat the water...  (Declor)

  13. your buying to many fish at the same time and that creates alot of problem in the tank so you should buy a  new fish like every other week. sorry about your fish loss

  14. theres to many fish attttttt5tttttt once
