Hi:)Im in the USA on F-1 visa ( student visa). Im getting married to a citizen of USA. How do I change my visa

How long is this proses? Do I have to go back to my home country to get new visa or it is possible to change it here in USA. While we are waiting for my visa to change do I have to atend the school or?

  1. Just get married.

    You're legally in the US on an F-1 visa. Your American spouse will petition you and you'll adjust your status at the same time.

    After the wedding...

    Your American spouse files file I-130, I-864 and G-325A with the USCIS.

    You file I-485, I-131, I-765 and G-325A with the USCIS.

    You file them all at the same time, in the same envelope. The total cost to file is $1,365.

    In about 90 days you'll get a work permit.

    In about 6 months you'll have your interview.

    In about a year you'll get your green card.
