Hibernian appoint Derek Adams as assistant boss
Hibernian have announced that Derek Adams has left his post as manager of Ross County to become Colin Calderwood’s assistant at the Scottish Premier League side.
Adams, who guided County to promotion from the Second Division to the First Division in 2008 and also led his men to the Scottish Cup final last season, had been linked with the manager’s job at Hibs after John Hughes left the position.
Though he missed out on the top job, Adams told his new club’s official website that he was pleased to be joining the Easter Road outfit.
The former Aberdeen and Burnley midfielder said that: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to come to a club of the stature of Hibernian. I've had three magnificent years at Ross County and leave there with a sense of pride. The club made great progress
over that period, but it's now time for both Ross County and me to look forward to the next phase.”
'Delighted to have secured Adams' services'
Calderwood revealed that he was pleased to have 35-year-old Adams working alongside him. "I'm delighted to have secured Derek's services and now feel that we have an extremely strong group of coaches at the club.
"I have been hugely impressed by Derek's achievements at Ross County and also saw in his Ross County team the type of organisation and dynamism that I want to see at Hibernian."
Meanwhile, Craig Brewster — who was Adams’ assistant and was previously in charge of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Dundee United — has been named as caretaker coach of County.
Brewster has been in charge of the County side on match days in recent weeks as Adams has been serving a six-game touchline ban, which has one match left to run. Adams is currently appealing against a further ban which was handed down for "excessive misconduct".
