Hibernian defender says criticism of team is deserved
Hibernian defender Michael Hart has revealed that manager John Hughes and the team have no complaints about the criticism they have faced after a dismal start to the campaign.
The Scottish Premier League club was defeated 2-1 by Glasgow giants Celtic on Saturday, leaving them with just a single win out of nine matches across all competitions so far. They are currently ninth in the SPL table with five points from six games, and
their only win of the season to date came in an away fixture against Motherwell.
Hibs were also dumped out of the UEFA Europa League in the qualifying stages at the hands of Slovenian side Maribor, and were knocked out of the Co-operative Insurance Cup by Kilmarnock last week.
That has led to the club's fans and pundits slating the players’ performances.
Hart told the BBC on Monday that "Everybody's taking stick and deservedly so. For a club of this stature we should be doing better but it doesn't lie with the manager — it lies with everybody, though he is getting the brunt of it."
“Obviously, the manager gets it because he picks the team, but there are 11 players he puts out on the pitch and predominantly it's down to us to get the results. I know as soon as we do start to get results, this spell will all be forgotten about...we will
eventually turn it around if we keep playing the way we are playing.”
Hibs will next attempt to stop the rot against St Johnstone on Saturday. Hart added, "It's a hard place to go but I keep saying that if we play the way we can play, we can beat anyone"
