Hibernian defender says players are confident after big wins
Hibernian defender Jonathan Grounds says that morale at Easter Road has improved drastically after the Scottish Premier League club racked up two big wins in the space of four days,
The Hibees, who have been struggling so far this season, claimed a memorable 3-0 win over defending SPL champions Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday 10 November, before winning 2-0 at home against Motherwell.
The victories lifted the Edinburgh-based club to eighth place in the SPL table, eight points clear of bottom-places Hamilton Academical.
As a result, Grounds, who is on loan from Middlesbrough, believes that there is a much more optimistic attitude in the Hibs camp and hopes that good feeling can help push the side even further up the table.
He told reporters that: "If you'd seen the dressing room after the game against Motherwell, everyone was jumping around and high-fiving each other and it was the same after the Rangers match. If we can continue along the same track then our confidence is only
going to grow and grow."
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old is pleased with the changes that have been made by new manager Colin Calderwood since he replaced John Hughes.
Grounds added that: "The shape of the team is a lot better and we seem to be harder to break down now than in recent weeks; the manager has been working on that quite a bit in training. He's been working hard with the back four and on 11-against-11 work
as well and I think that has really started to pay off."
Hibs will next play Inverness Caledonian Thistle away on Saturday 20 November. ICT's form book bodes well for the Hibees as Caley Thistle have lost four of their six games at home this season, However, Calderwood's side have also lost five of their seven games
on the road this term, winning the other two.
