Question:

Hidden administrative account in windows xp?

Alright, I don't know if this is even possible to fix, but it's worth a shot.

I "borrowed" a pc from my highschool before i graduated, and I just started using it.

it has windows xp pro installed, and i have been getting the message saying i need to have administrative permission before installing certain programs.

I have already used ophcrack, and revealed the hidden administrator's pw, and logged into the account in safe mode, hoping to make ANOTHER administrative account that will allow the installation of these programs.

but the problem i am having is; even in safe mode in the administrator's profile it won't let me go to User Profiles to make a new one.

It also won't let me open the program "Run"

and when i try to go into safe mode with command prompt, it says that the administrator has disabled that.

I am getting really frustrated, and any advice other than purchasing a new XP disc, would be greatly appreciated.

  1. There are many possibilities for this kind of problem.

Don’t go safe mode safe mode accessed only Microsoft recommended program.

    Follow following steps.

Start your computer when users login windows is appear, Press ALT+CTRL+DEL 2or 3 times then you see the another kind of users login widow(like in widows 98).enter user as administrator. This is your original hidden Administrator account. Go user account setting and change your account type

If this method is not work click start type msconfig in general tab select selective startup And use original BOOT.INI

  2. LET EM **** ME JUST 1NCE

  3. Try returning the "borrowed" PC and purchasing one of your own.

  4. Have you tried TweakUI?  It is a Windows XP powertool.
