i have a 96 taurus lx with digital climate control and they dont make dash kits for this particular model... one day i was watching a car show about restoring classic cars. they wanted to keep the factory radio in place, and have a nice sound system. so they installed this "thing" i'm not sure what its called but its made to be mounted out of sight. it had a usb input for flash drives and card readers, and it had rca inputs and outputs, and +/- outlets for up to 4 speakers. it also had a remote and a touchpad which could be mounted wherever you see fit... i dont care about this particular model i just wanna know what they're called so i can search and find where to purchase them

  1. Long time ago, they used to make TRUNK mounted stereo.  This was when thieves used to steel radios.  Now I suspect they do it for cool factor.

Just go to your car stereo store and ask for trunk mounted stereos.

    Good Luck.

  2. i have this on my car due to the radio controls on the sterring wheel.

i just mounted another headunit out of sight (but in reach to insert CD's/DVD's)

it has a SD and USB input and RCA outputs.

its easyer and cheaper doing it that way rather then dsearching for a specialist item that does the same thing.

  3. This was probably a custom enclosure/mount job, many different brands of CD player's offer the remotes and USB jacks. All CD players come standard with the RCA jacks and +/- jacks as well. If you want to do this you may just want to find a good CD player with a remote(if you want it), I would suggest Sony or Pioneer, and then  maybe you could Google how to mount your CD player under the dash.

  4. I think you need this:

    http://www.casmfg.com/

The made custom stereos for classic cars and hidden stereos for Rods, show cars, etc.
