what do you think, i think they are getting a bum deal , in general younger peole are fairly decent, some need reminding yea, but mostly a poster, media and school ed. is eneough.

The hidden agenda i see is that the gov. dont want to spend on extra trains due over 2 years ago!!!! so blame kids for lack of extra seats ! very slack......

  1. No, I don't see a hidden agenda at all and even if there is, then so what? Children should not need to be forced to give up seats to adults but unfortunately, most refuse to do so.  I'm in my 60s and I give up my seat to infirm people of all ages and pregnant women while dozens of children remain seated. Children travel at reduced fares, and apart from the courtesy aspect of it, that alone should be enough.

  2. Notwithstanding respect for age, the main issue is that kids are getting travel at rates that are heavily reduced from those of full fare paying passengers.

So get up off your a*se and show respect.

  3. i agree! for the most part kids are decent, unless they are just phenominally bratty. Most kids have a brain and I think that the govt. should put in an extra train, or two! We have that same problem here in the states, but kids will give up their seat for a pregnant woman or an elderly one.

  4. When I was a young girl, we were taught when another enters ( the room, the group, the train whatever ) you will get up and offer  your seat. In an area where I was the youngest one, I must not have the seat while those older than myself stand. I was taught to respect my elders. I still do & I hope my children do the same.

  5. Cannot children choose to keep their seat if they are willing to pay full adult fare? That is how it has always been in Perth ever since I was a nipper.

And the govt has made travelling to school cheaper with 50c tickets for students.

There is no profit in public transport which is probably why the govt doesn't like spending lots of money on it.
