Hidden control panel not accessible on dishwasher

Question

I have recently installed a Kitchenaid fully integrated consol S series dishwasher model # KUDSO3FTPA with a cabinet panel. The problem is that with the panel lined up correctly with the other cabinets the hidden control panel is under the counter and there is not enough room for my fingers to work the controls. Is the front panel supposed to be installed lower than he other cabinets or is the panel supposed to sit out further into the room than the other cabinets?
