I am trying to figure out an interesting problem. I have a PC with XP installed, and it has 160 gb hard drive. But when I was trying to prepare it for selling and deleted a lot of stuff. I still noticed that 80 extra gbs were being used. So I checked through everywhere and it seems like there is not files or anything taking up this space! What could possibly be on the hard drive and how do i fix this?

  1. first of all you watch properties of all the partitions of your drive which drive is taking more space if you have only one partition then try disk cleanup software. one of them you can download from here

  2. System Restore Shadow Copies, they are about 500Mb-2GB each, running disk cleanup, then selecting other options and selecting "Delete all but the most recent restore point" should take care of it.

  3. Secret p**n stash.

Jk, but seriously, perhaps you have a lot of temporary internet files. I suggest you get ccleaner and run that puppy. It's amazing how much space they take up. I doubt that it's 80 GB worth of stuff, but you'd be surprised.
