Guus Hiddink has urged Anzhi Makhachkala to reach the group stages of the European tournament after winning the return leg against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar on Friday
Anzhi Makhachkala head coach, Guus Hiddink, has urged his side to win the UEFA Europa League play-off round return leg against AZ Alkmaar, admitting that his team's home advantage might not influence the outcome of the match.
However, the former Real Madrid coach has urged the fans to come in large numbers irrespective of the ground in which they will play the return leg of the European tournament against the Dutch outfit.
Hiddink revealed that UEFA is yet to make a decision over naming the ground prior to the much anticipated European encounter. He told that either they will play the return leg at Stadion Lokomotiv or Arena Ramenskoe.
“The difference in the atmosphere at Moscow stadium and the arena in Makhachkala, of course, is great. In Dagestan we have special fans, who will not like to travel to south.”
“In the Europa League we've never played at home. We have always been playing on the road. But I think it does not matter where to play - in Moscow or in Alkmaar as long as we get a good result.” The FA Cup winner was quoted as
saying.
The Makhachkala-based club barely managed to secure the European berth after finishing 5th last season.
Hiddink insisted that it is more important to build a strong team that can challenge in the European competition for years to come rather than to try and reach the group stages this time around and losing out for the upcoming years.
The 65-year-old revealed that the Dagestani club is interested to introduce younger player to the Russian champions and gave the examples of Lacina Traore, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Odil-Ahmedov-c28307 and Ewerton.
"The first-leg was difficult but we managed to win. These matches are primarily based on the tactics. Our aim to pass on and we will be aiming for a win tomorrow.” He concluded.
Hiddink hinted at signing more players this summer, admitting that the Wild-division needs to strengthen few positions.
