Hiddink confirms Anzhi Makhachkala’s intention to add depth to existing squad – Football news
Anzhi Makhachkala head coach, Guus Hiddink, has confirmed that the Russian Premier League club is looking to strengthen the attacking and defensive department.
He said that the scouting department is working day and night to identify the targets during the ongoing summer transfer window.
“Last season we did not have enough depth on the bench and we have been unfortunate to lose important players at crucial time. I think that the players failed to meet the requirement of the championship due to high stress. If we want to achieve something
and go for high goals, it is necessary to strengthen the structure. We have to go beyond the results of this season. The club management has given me the green light to make necessary signings. We are planning to buy a defender and attacker first of all,”
the former Real Madrid coach was quoted as saying.
With Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez and Lassana Diarra linked with a move away from the Dagestani club this summer, Anzhi will definitely be looking at some replacements. Gonzales is wanted by Olympique Marseille while Diarra has been tipped to join French side
AS Monaco.
The Makhachkala-based club have reportedly been linked with a host of top European players this summer including Wilfried Bony, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148.
Anzhi are eyeing up a deal to capture http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 back in January. The French star has decided not to extend his current contract, which will expire June next year, at Emirates
stadium.
The English Premier League club will listen to offers for the player they signed from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 back in 2007, knowing that they will not get a penny should they hold on to the player until next summer.
Anzhi, meanwhile, have reportedly offered six million Euro annual salary to Galatasaray’s Yilmaz, who has scored 24 goals last season.
The Russian outfit finished third on the league table and nine points behind runners up, Zenit St. Petersburg last term. The fact that Anzhi will play in the UEFA Europa League next season will definitely help them attract star players.
