Hiddink remains coy over future after Anzhi’s Russian Cup defeat against CSKA Moscow – Football News
Anzhi Makhachkala head coach, Guus Hiddink, has lamented Anzhi Makhachkala’s latest defeat in the Russian Cup final against CSKA Moscow on penalty shoot-outs at Terek Stadium (Grozny) on Saturday.
"We have not lost hope despite losing the final of the Cup of Russia. I think our team played well. I will continue to work at Anzhi after the defeat? We'll see. I will discuss my future with the management in
the next few days. I do not want to comment on it right now. All will be discussed in the near future. It is difficult to play against ten people especially a team like CSKA, who acted well defensively. We had chances, but lacked a bit of luck at the end of
attacks,” The KNVB Cup winner was quoted as saying.
Though the mega rich Dagestani club managed to level up the match after conceding an early goal in the final of the cup tournament, they remained unlucky to lose it out on spot kicks after extra time.
Anzhi failed to score the winner in the extra time, despite having a numerical advantage in the game. CSKA played with 10-men for more than 30 minutes after Pontus Wernbloom was sent off on 87th minute.
