Hidemasa Sano conquers Men’s 200m butterfly heats: Day four - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Hidemasa Sano conquered the preliminary rounds of Men’s 200m butterfly on fourth day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, April 5.
Sano demonstrated his exhausting efforts in the four-lap butterfly discipline and occupied the top qualification spot of the event. With his invincible efforts and magnificent strokes, he succeeded in edging out his following swimmer, Takeshi Matsuda over
the wall for first position.
Sano followed the lead of his strongest competitor throughout the distant butterfly event but with his nerve-wrecking pace in final lap, he managed to reach the finishing wall for first position by posting a time of 1 minute and 56.57 seconds.
His effort remained 0.03 seconds ahead of Matsuda, who settled on the finishing end as second best qualifying swimmer by posting a time of 1 minute and 56.60 seconds.
The third fastest spot of the event was secured by Ryusuke Sakata, who stayed 0.33 seconds slower from overwhelming the efforts of his foregoing competitor and clocked a time of 1 minute and 56.93 seconds.
Sakata remained just 0.01 seconds faster from Kazuya Kaneda, who ended his swim in fourth best place by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 56.94 seconds.
Kaneda remained almost two seconds ahead of Yuuta Kimura, who earned fifth qualifying position by posting an effort of 1 minute and 58.04 seconds.
Next was the Men’s 200m breaststroke prelims, where Akihiro Yamaguchi upset his challengers and hit the finishing wall for first position by producing a time of 2 minutes and 10.99 seconds.
His immaculate effort was followed by Ryo Tateishi, who was just 0.07 seconds behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 11.06 seconds.
He was chased by Yuuki Satou, who remained nearly half body length behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 11.67 seconds for third position.
Kosuke Kitajima transpired on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder as he tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.91 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all listed events while the championship will end on April 8.
