Question:

Hiding new bridge piercing..?

It's 4 days old, and i start school next week so i wont be able to remove it. Would putting a plaster over it increase the chance of rejection or interfere with healing? I don't want to change it to a retainer till it's fully healed so that I don't irritate It any more than necessary.

Also are there any other options of making it less noticeable?

And I got my bridge pierced before i found out about school not allowing facial piercings any more, so it's not entirely my fault. :/

thanks.

And roughly how long will it take to heal using saline solution (if it doesn't reject..)

  1. You are smart by not taking it out until it heals.

I think a plaster might irritate it, plus it would still be noticeable and everyone would ask why youve got a plaster betwen your eyes.

When you use saline solution, make sure you squirt water over it afterwards. Saline kills the bacteria, but doesnt wash it away, and you dont want clogged dead bacteria in and around your piercing.

It shouldnt be rejected unless you bump it or unless the piercing is too thin, but if you used the standard 14g size (same as most other piercings, belly button is 14g) then it should be alright.

It could take about 6-10 weeks before you can change the piercing - you SHOULD wait longer, 3-6 months, but the school situation changes things.

I suggest trying to swoop your hair across your face to cover it, like a big dramatic fringe swept to the side? I hope you have long enough hair for that! I think that's your best bet.

If you do choose to put a plaster over it, make sure that it's not touching the piercing or jewellry, just covering.

  2. Hii, I had my bridge pierced a few months ago and it didn't ever reject, I just took it out as I didn't like it anymore.

I had it done when i was doing my gcses and my teachers told me to take it out, but I didnt.

You could put a plaster over the balls of it, it won't make the piercing more likely to reject, just don't push on it too hard with the plaster.

Try and not knock the piercing and it'll heal fine :)

Or you could go back to the piercer and try to get a small bar so it's less noticeable!

  3. Wat school do you go to that doesnt allow this. Im very curious. And where is this place?

  4. Covering it with a bandage would be the last option. It will keep the area warm and moist, which is exactly where bacteria love to live.

Go back to your piercer and ask them to fit you with a clear pyrex or quartz retainer. It will need to be sterile, so they will have to do it for you. For future reference, if you need to hide a piercing before it's healed, quality retainers can be used as initial jewelry, just tell your piercer before hand.
