Hiding the Data in tables

Question

In a table If any field of numbertype is having ***** in it some how. How do u think that ***** has come into that field and how to retrieve or get that actual value stored.

The data type was specified as hidden. You can't reverse engineer *****

Two possibilities.

1.) The data was deliberately masks so you cannot see it. It is simply not available/

2.) The table space is not wide enough for the number. Increasing the column width may show the number.
