Hifi speakers for virtual surround?

what pair of hifi speakers would be good for music but also best for virtual/pseudo surround effects through an AV receiver?

None.

To get surround sound, you either need a proper 5.1 / 7.1 speaker setup (the best solution) or a specific system for pseudo surround (but those systems are lousy with music).

A pair of hi-fi speakers will not give you surround sound in any way, shape or form.

Klipsch. I personally love klipsch sound.  I have the Igroove which is amazing. The sound is rich and deep.  Hits highs and lows.
