High CPU Usage ?

I have been having problems with very high CPU usage.

Heres how it starts

I hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete and when it loads the window my CPU usage is at like 90%+ then drops and drops and eventually reaches 60% or so. Then I close the window and re-open it and it starts at 90% again.

I just tried opening task manager with no programs running and it was at 50 - 60% CPU usage (almost all "TeaTimer.exe")

What is teatimer.exe?

But then after about 5 seconds it dropped down to 5% and below

What is going on?

  1. i would search teatimer.exe on google and if its not important uninstall it

  2. click start, click search and type the name of the file. that way you will know the name of the program that is using that file.this is an executable file, meaning it starts a program.  it is hard to tell what it is, but it is not unusual. there are programs such as anti virus that are working in the background and use a lot of the CPU. if the teatimer.exe is the one that is using most of the CPU, figure out what program is using it. if it is not important, delete the program. sometimes programs such as Windows Media Player may cause that problem. i stopped using media player because sometimes it was making my computer go crazy.

  3. Spybot search and destroy is scanning which eats up your resources. The only option is to disable automatic scanning.

  4. I don't know.

    Delete it.

  5. Well if I had to guess, I would guess that teatimer is from spybot search and destroy. It is a safety feature made to protect your computer, although I find it pointless. It can be turned off by going into spybot and going to advanced mode and then turn it off.

  6. i think it is the virus

scan you computer with latest anti virus software like avg from download.com and scan your complete computer
