  1. When there's an unusual amount of time spent facilitating "her" needs.

  2. Women who expect more because they feel that they are somehow "deserving" of expenditure of money to fulfill their need to achieve a sense of self-importance.

    Essentially, extreme selfishness.

  3. Anyone who's materialistic, starving for attention, vain, and self-centered.

If you're talking about someone being high maintenance then what I wrote above would definitely define that person as high maintenance.  But generally high maintenance means something that requires a high degree of maintenance in order to function properly or it will break down.  Perfect example would be a Mercedes vs a Toyota.

  4. I disagree with some of the other posters.  To me, a "high maintenance" person is someone who requires a lot of your time and (emotional) energy, but not necessarily a great expenditure of money.

It's like owning a terrier.  Compared to other dog breeds, they are a lot more work and can often be a hassle.  But it's still rewarding.

  5. A feminist.

Ladies: Be a first class woman, not a second rate feminist.

  6. Extremely self centered and self serving creature. Should be avoided at all costs.

  7. She requires too much time, too much attention, too much money.

Lack of flexibility, it has to be her way or there's h**l to pay.

Lots of complaining even over little things.

    It's hot

    It's cold

    I'm thirsty

    I'm bored.

Requires a lot of material gratification,

    Clothes

    shoes

    jewelry

    flowers

    manicures

    pedicures

    Hair do's

All for the sake of entertainment , as opposed to normal need.

But I would say the single defining factor is 'How much of your time can she get you to waste , servicing her wants?"

One note to that...not to stigmatize "beautiful" people, but it's been my life experience that these are the people are usually high maintenance.  They expect everything handed to them and think that people "below them in the food chain" owe them something because they're "beautiful"
