High Pitched Phone Static when near body?

In my household we have a Uniden 2.4ghz phone, what's interesting is whenever the "Talk" button is pushed, and the dial tone can be heard, if the phone is placed near the ear, or in other cases, the head, spine, chest, or .. leg, it makes a high pitched static sound that sounds like the phone is screaming, or something.

Anyone know what causes this? Or how you can stop it? It's getting really annoying when I go to pick up the phone and my ear is blasted with that noise, which happens occasionally.

I guess I could get a new phone if all hope fails.

this sounds like some kind of feedback.  do you have any other phones that do the same thing?

See if you can get the same make of phone (borrow it from someone) and take it home for the same test.
