  1. Soybeans (TOFU) or anything soy-related, other kinds of beans, nuts, and unless you're actually talking about being a vegan, milk and cheese have some protein; animal protein, at that.

If you suck at cooking, go out. Get soy in your jamba juice, go order tofu at a Chinese restaurant, go get a bean burrito with lots of veggies. Or, simply learn to cook these things :) I suggest getting a vegetarian recipe book of some sort.

    Good luck!

  2. Stir soy protein powder into yogurt, put textured vegetable protein (tvp) in veggie soup, mix quinoa and oats for a breakfast cereal, etc. If you're a lacto/ovo vegetarian you have a lot of choices.

  3. We are presently in the "HIGH PROTEIN" fad of nutrition.

10 to 20 years ago "health concious" people were eating high carb diets to stay healthy and lean.

"All things in moderation" is always going to beat the current fad diet.  Many foods provide protein and the "protein myth" that vegetarians need to pay special attention to getting enough protein is just plain anti-vegetarian propaganda.

When the health community starts seeing a rise in deaths due to early onset kidney disease due to overloading our bodies with high protein diets the pendulum will swing the other way -- EAT MORE CARBS is what we will be told.

"Learning facts is much harder than watching TV"

  4. If you have a dinner with Lentils & Rice, Broccoli & Cheese, and Garlic Bread, you will have consumed 9.1+4.4+3.1+2.4 (1/3 of Hard Cheese Value)+7 = 26 grams of Protein which is great for one meal.

NOTE:  Lentils cook in 45 min, Rice 20-25, Broccoli 10, and Garlic Bread 5.

    Good Sources of Protein:

    Chick Peas  16g

    Baked Beans  11.5g

    Tofu 10.3g

    Cow's Milk 9.2g

    Lentils 9.1g

    Soy Milk 8.2g

    Eggs 7.5g

    Peanuts 7.3g

    Bread 7g

    Hard Cheese 6.8g

    Fair Sources of Protein:

    Brown Rice (4.4g)

    Broccoli (3.1g)

    Potatoes (2.8g)

    Porridge (2.4g).

  5. Well, apart from the suggestions above, I have Carnation Instant Breakfast every morning. It's got lots of protein and vitamins, it's like eating two eggs, and you drink milk too. It doesnt have to be just breakfast, either-its so low calorie you could use it for a workout snack if you liked.

  6. Nuts

    Black Beans

    Peanut Butter

    Veggie Burgers

Soy Products (there are tons of soy products such as cheese, milk, frozen prepared foods, plus a ton more)

    Tofu

If you can eat dairy these products contain protein too.

Also, the organic section of your local grocery store is a great place to start.  There are tons of vegetarian options there.

    Good luck.

  7. almonds

    cashew nut butter

    Kashi granola bars

    Spirulina
