I am looking for a high quality gi for my upcoming black belt grading. I have seen gi's from Blitz and a couple of other companies but need advice from anyone who has such a gi.

I need it to be of high quality cotton and have a sharp 'snap' when I punch and kick etc etc..

thanks for reading and helping

  1. Blitz is a very good company to buy your Gi from, i have been training for nearly 20yrs and have always used them.

Go for a Japanese cut, they have shorter arms and short trouser legs and will deliver the "snap" your looking for, and make sure its a heavy-weight one at least 14oz.

Good luck with the grade oos

  2. All of my kickboxing equiptment is from blitz ,my gloves my feet pads my shirt my pants and they are all good quality my gloves have taken allot of abuse but they are still in great shape

Get blitz they are high quality

  3. tokaido

  4. TOKAIDO - That's all I have to say.

  5. I do Aikido and i want to say that karate GIs are good, however, you might want to think about getting a judo GI because in judo they do a lot of GI grabbing and the judo GI is made so it dose not tear or rip. the judo GI is a little thicker but it can pass as a karate GI. i have had many people see me and every one said i did karate. my brand of gi is HSU.

P.S. Remember to get the white one not the blue one

  6. Shureido makes a really heavy weight Gi.  I buy the R.E.I. label Gi from Shureido. It does not have the Shureido label no it but I'm almost sure that it is made by Shureido. The R.E.I can be gotten in full or half sizes and in Black or White.  I have two that are over 15 years old and still look good.

  7. I've been training/teaching shotokan karate for 16 years. I've had a Tokaido for the last 10. While IMO its the best karate gi money can buy, its not the best value for money. I am currently using a Blitz "White Diamond" (Japanese cut 14oz), I believe this is also the Gi the England national squad wears. My Tokaido was more than twice the cost of the blitz white diamond, and while better it was not twice as good. I can strongly recommend the White Diamond, it will certainly give you all the snap you are looking for in your grading.

    Good Luck!

  8. I have three karate gi's Hyashi heavy weight - it can stand up on its on after washing, good snap but does chaff.  Blitz - lightweight - become see through when wet, but nice for the summer nice for warm weather.  Judo suit - my back-up suit to old to snap soft a little 'off white' now.  Saw someone with a Black eagle gi on and was really jealous of that, looked ribbed (?) did not hear it snap but they still kinda new to this sport.  Hope you get something out of that, all the best

  9. http://www.karatesupply.com/Century-Iron...

I've ordered from these guys, and Century is nice, good stitching, heavy weight, can be starched up for that snap you are looking for (I use spray starch before ironing)

    Good luck on your grading!!!

  10. I order mine from Japan, it takes weeks to get them.

But then they are custom made for me.

They are of the best quality

  11. Kamikaze are excellent and not as expensive as others.

Of course, the Rolls Royce of Gi are Shureido but way over-priced.

Anshin is a small company that make beautiful gi.

I have some Ronin brand gi that have lasted me years. I use single weave jujutsu/judogi and I love them. And they only cost me $55!

My Kamikaze are just perfect though. I also have a Mitsuboshi and they have a great roomy cut with excellent quality.

I'm going to check out this Blitz company. Never heard of them but if they have good quality, I'll try them.

  12. The Iron man gi from Century Martial Arts has always had a very high quality. Quite honestly almost any good heavy weight gi will stand up well and have the snap that you are looking for.

  13. Hi there

This is it guys the next big thing!

    Designer Gi's

Remember you saw it here first! ;-)

Wulf and Prince Loeffler  have made some good suggestions. If i remember i may have come across one called tatsujin which was lined inside. Cost about $160 though.

Seriously dolci and gabana Gi's there coming! lol

    Best wishes

    idai

  14. I own a Mitsoboshi (Mitsobosi? sp) Gi it was $299 and made heavy duty for competition.

Takeda Gis are also good.  The Blitz I am not so familiar with but I know a Mitsoboshi Gi and a Takeda Gi are both good quality but expensive ones too!

  15. For me , The best Keikogi I've ever worn are Mugen by KI international and Shuriedo.  They are great quality uniforms.  They will last longer than you.  With Shuriedo, I like the fact that they get better as they age.

    Hope this helps !
