Next year I'll be going to 9th grade, and I really don't want to goto a trad. school, anyone know of a site that you could be a teen and earn a high school diploma?

So far I only found sites that you must be 18 or older. -.-

Thanks!

  1. Check out this website:

    http://www.OnlineStudyInfo.com

There are several pages that should help.

  2. I agree with David C.

  3. Yes. I take classes from BYU EPGY, Stanford EPGY, and Northwestern EPGY. Your local community college may also have online highschool classes.:)

  4. I believe that your school can help you with this endeavor...most schools have adopted, the need of, such programs. Also, the shool may obtain credit and you can get your on-line studies either paid for or via grant funding. Start at your school and then seek info through a local community college that may have a type of partnership with your schoool.

  5. Here's some info about online courses and some popular providers:

    http://www.successful-homeschooling.com/...

With homeschooling you still get a diploma, but it is issued by your parents, not the school.  It will still be accepted by colleges and universities.

  6. Some school districts offer an online program, usually called Internet Academy. Talk to your counselor about other options.

  7. i know a site. i'm currently doing classes for distant learning on it towards my high school diploma.  its www.surreyconnect.sd36.bc.ca

  8. Why wouldn't you want to go to a traditional school? The purpose of going to school is not only to make you wake up (responsibility), study for tests (responsibility), do your homework and learn time management (ahem.. responsibility) and eat terrible food (not responsibility, but another great lesson, humility), it teaches you social skills. Staying at home and taking classes not only makes you a bright shade of pale, it also strips you of any opportunity of making friends that you'll be with forever. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity that doesn't come by everyday. Don't pass it up!! Wait for college to take online (I did, well like 28 credit hours, but I finished high school!)

  9. just search for cyber charter schools, they are popping up all over.  Go to any informational seminars they hold.

My daughter is in a fabulous one in our state.  dont worry about the naysayers, just do what you works for you!

as for David C: "Why wouldn't you want to go to a traditional school? The purpose of going to school is not only to make you wake up (responsibility), study for tests (responsibility), do your homework and learn time management (ahem.. responsibility)"

WOW I guess my daughter has none of that, she must be sleeping all day,  no tests, no homework, no time management...

"and eat terrible food (not responsibility, but another great lesson, humility)"

GAWD who will feed my child!?!?!  let her eat such over-processed/fake food, meats raised in cages staked to the ceiling so she has a good healthy body and mind, RIGHT?  OH YES THAT WORKS!  THATS HUMILITY TOO BABY!

"it teaches you social skills. Staying at home and taking classes not only makes you a bright shade of pale, it also strips you of any opportunity of making friends that you'll be with forever."

YUP, we all keep in touch with those life-long friends from high school. mmhmmm....

Check it out...most people never see HS mates unless its at a reunion.  You make most your "life long" friends in college and AFTER that.
