So, I'm 14 and I'm starting H.S. in a couple of weeks (I'm mad nervous) and I was wondering if you got any advice on surviving my freshman year? Also, some freshman stories would be nice.

  1. ummm im gunna be a freshman 2 but im not nervis. its going to be great. i cant wait to go!

  2. I would say to take everything you hear with a grain of salt. There were some kids that went to my high school who believed that secret lab experiments were being done underneath the science building. (lol)

As for a freshman story: I remember my very first pep rally. The school had a special schedule and we freshmen were told to enter the gym through the back doors. As we entered, we were surrounded by upperclassmen who held up signs that said "Class of Nothing" (I graduated high school in 2000) and booed at us. It kinda hurt my feelings especially since I'd always treated the 6th graders in my middle school with respect and dignity. After that, the razzing went down (I was kinda tall for a 9th grader) and had no problems with upperclassmen again.

  3. you're going to do fine, i promise. i was in your shoes last year. here are some tips:

    1) always smile- smiling shows you're friendly and you're open to people for conversation. smile at people and teachers.

    2) dress to impress- don't change your style for the first day of school or throughout the year. wear something a little nicer for the first day, but that's it.

    3) have good posture- don't walk in a room slouched over. sit up straight in your seat and walk standing upright.

    4) have confidence- if you get the chance to stand up and talk about yourself the first day in a room, do it right. get up and smile and look people in the eyes, even if you don't know them. it will show you're friendly. you could practice this at home before you start school.

    5) smell nice- spray a hint of a nice perfume/cologne on yourself before each class. =)

    6) act comfortable, even if you're not- this one's hard, but you have to do it. don't go up and talk and keep saying "uh" and such.

    7) be kind- if you see someone who is lost or needs help, help them. that's how you make friends.

    8) be active in school- me and my locker partner became close because of fbla. i met so many upperclassmen and such being in a club. sports are also really good because you will find people with comon interest.

    9) go to orientation- if your school has an orientation, then go. mine did and i know it put my mind at ease that i was able to walk around the school and see where classes and places were before school started.

  4. Dont be nervous...if you know anyone from 8th grade thats going to your high school then thats a good start. Try to avoid people who have a bad record cause thatll probably give you a bad name and upper classmen might not respect you as much. Try to leave all the sluty things (if any) that you did back in middle school. Also dont let other people get to you as much. Just remember everyone no matter who you are or how you act will make friends in the first week(s). Try not to talk about how you were passing something around on your 8th grade field trip or how you used to pass notes around in class all the time cause weve all done it. I know youve gotten this a lot but just be yourself not some guy you saw on a music video. Im also going to be a freshmen this year and im not one bit nervous. I WISH YOU BEST OF LUCK AND TO EVERYONE THATS GOING TO START HIGH SCHOOL IN 08!!!!!!!

  5. My freshman year the first day i was mad nervous but over the years i realized what i should have done...dont be nervous, dress for success, talk to everyone, join lots of clubs cause u meet lots of ppl, and keep an open mind....but even without doin that i was ok just stick with who u know in the beginning feel ppl out and youll find where u fit in cause most of the time when u go into school ppl arent lookin to do pranks and what not the girls are lookin to see whos competition and the guys are lookin to see whos the cutest...so be extra nice and extra cute ur first day....and keep ur class schedule by ur side maybe come to school early walk to each class in order cause the last thing u wanna do is be late to a class the akwardness is bad enough u dont wanna make it worse by walkin into a class late while everyones quiet and in their seats////Good Luck!!!
