Are there different recruiters to go talk to to become an officer in the us air force. I'm going into high school and wanted to know about which recruiter to talk to to go become a officer. Also, What they will talk to me about, and things not to say. I would appreciate some tips so i don't look very uneducated in front of the recruiter as I am, with a 3.8 grade point average. (not sounding like a braggart, just getting a point across) Please help me. Also I live in Maryland and go to Montgomery county schools if that helps.

  1. If you have an JROTC program join it. And as frichalf said, strive for the Academy or, just as equal an ROTC scholarship. Most recruiters deal with young men such as yourself in the course of their service so you won't sound "uneducated". Flying is great but being in Intelligence will get you farther faster.

  2. Judging from the content and grammar of your question, I'd say you might be aiming a bit too high.

  3. You do know, you must have a 4 year college degree to be an Officer in the military.

You should apply for the Air Force Academy, your high school guidence councilor can help with that.

Or you can enroll in a university that has a AFROTC program.

You would contact the University and the AFROTC program directly for more information.

  4. That's great that you have these hopes and ambitions.  But, it's still a bit early.  You can look into what it takes to go to the AF Academy and concentrate on that.  Excellent grades, active in school and community, leadership, volunteer work, etc.   There are officer recruiters, but to be honest, they are not really going to want to talk to a high school freshman.

You main goal is going to be to come out of HS looking sharp and then head to the Academy or to a uni with an AF ROTC program.

As for flight training, only the top are picked and then only the best of the best make it to fighter school.

  5. you need to work towards going to the air force academy, they are really picky on who they take but its not impossible.  just tell them you want to apply for the academy, and see where that gets you.
