Question:

High School Book Club?

My friend and I are talking about putting a bookclub together at school this year, and since I'm a planner, I thought I'd get some suggestions for books before school starts. This is high school, so please give books appropriate for ages 13-17.

And please, I *beg* you, no Twilight. I swear, the entire school has already read it. And please keep in mind boys will also be a part of the club, so... books that are good for both genders would be best.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Haha, I wasn't going to say Twilight! Hmph.

Uh, for guys and girls I would recommend classics. Like Pride and Prejudice (13+) The Picture of Dorian Grey (14 or 15+) The Count of Monte Cristo, Gone With the Wind, Twelfth Night (that's one of the simpler ones) Importance of Being Earnest or Ideal Husband.

For contemporary I would suggest Stephen King for guys and girls and a good romance novelist for girls.

But remember, don't stereotype them together.

    LuthienT

  2. Wow! That's so cool. I wish my school had a book club. I love reading!!!

    Let's see...how about:

    Eragon

    Eldest

    Brisingr....all 3 by Christopher Paolini

    Uglies

    Pretties

    Specials

    Extras....all by Scott Westerfeld

The Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud

    The Gatekeepers by Anthony Horowitz

The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot (it's slightly more for girls, but there's a whole lot of action and ************ going on)

You can also go to this website here:

If you look to your left you should see the word "Books" click on that and then click on "Directory." There you can look for genres, authors, titles, and age range!

    Hope this helps! ^_^
