Question:

High School Credits Transfer?

I'm moving back to NY from GA for my senior year.

I have never failed a class and have earned 24 credits in GA (8 classes/year----8*3=24)

but in New York you need 44 credits to graduate.

There is no way that if i take the maximum 8 classes/year that I can earn 44 credits (8*4=28)

& i took the classes that they listed and like I said before, I passed them

So do the credits transfer or...am in trouble??

  1. Well different states have different ways of counting credits.

For example, my cousin decided to move in with me in California and she's from Missouri. In Missouri they do a single point system where each class is 1 point and you need 25 to graduate. Here in southern California though we do a 5 point system where each class is 5 points and you need 190 to graduate.

If you speak to your current counselor or to an attendant in New York, you should be able to work out the details but I see no reason as to why your credits won't transfer. They did for my cousin.

    Best of luck. =)
