High School Diploma - Can you help me? Please!?

I'm Brazilian and I'm living in North Carolina. What's the best option: Should I translate my *Brazilian High School Diploma or get an American High School Diploma?

I think your Brazilian high school diploma is good enough. You could also ask to have your transcript sent to the United States from your high school, or make a copy of the transcript or diploma to give to your employer. The diploma is used to prove that you have completed compulsory education and that you have a basic grasp of necessary skills for basic work.

However, in order to teach, you will probably need additional proof that you have a solid foundation in English, such as higher level English courses as shown on your transcript from Brazil. AP (Advanced Placement), IB (Interbaccelereate), and SAT tests that you have passed in your home country would also work.

To become a teacher, you will still need to undergo training and to attain a teaching license in North Carolina. If you have an American college degree, or any college degree from an internationally accredited university, that is even better.

If you do not have a college degree at all, not even a Brazillian degree, you can try to attain a high school diploma in the United States, if you really want to put the time into it. I would suggest that you should take your Brazilian diploma to a community college to prove that you are a high school graduate and enroll in classes toward an AA degree and/or transfer to a university in the United States to attain a Bachelor's degree.

You could also take the GED or a state accredited diploma exam. Keep in mind that the certificate you receive is different from a diploma as you did not get it for completing coursework. It is only a legal equivalent of a diploma, and some employers may look down on you for that.
