  1. I just finished freshman year in June and I'm going to be a sophomore in September. Freshman year is easy and will past by really fast. When I was in 8th grade, I was worried too, but it turned out much better, and the year just pasted by like that.

This is what I needed for freshman year:

-TI 83 or 84 calculator for Algebra

    - Folders and notebooks for all subjects

    - Backpack

    - Maybe a lock

    - Color pencils

    - #2 pencils, red and plain pens for writing and correcting work

    - Whiteout and highlighter

    - Glue and scissors

    - Pencil case

    - The rest will be given by school

I also needed a flash drive, but I don't know if you might need one. Most teachers give out a list of things to get, and give you a week to get them, but buy them now when they're on sale.

Just treat high school like your grade classes. There's nothing new or special, just different people. All those bad things you hear or how high school classes like Honors are hard, are not true at all. Older kids don't make fun of freshman or any of that. Just treat it like any other year you had so far, a new school year. Best of luck on your first year of high school! Trust me, it's going to be much better than you think!

  2. It's just like middle school except you're a year older, and most people in the school are older than you.  That's it.  Nothing to worry about once you get to know where everything is.  On the rare occasion that someone picks on you, just flat-out ignore it.  It's that simple.

  3. Yup. Get a spiral ring binder and bring lots of pencils and pens. Some teachers only accept pens, some don't care. Bring highlighters, staplers, small pencil sharpener, good backpack, comfortable shoes, and your brain.^^ I don't' want to scare you, but the work load is going to be rather intimidating for the first year...you get used to it in about 4 weeks. Blend in the first day and don't wear anything too flamboyant. See who thinks they're the big shot in town and who seems like they'll beat you up. Nobody is prepared for high school. But dont' worry -- I HATED high school...and now it's over and it feels weird..i just graduated this June!!!! You'll be fine!

  4. you know,,, you should just be yourself.. You should be friendly and accommodating. Dress well enough and just have fun. High school is very memorable and you should enjoy it. I'm a senior and I'm entering college as a freshman as well. Talk to everyone. try to be confident and keep a smile on your face. don't mess up with the bullies or you'll end up in detention. Hope this helps and Good luck!!!

  5. Get one folder and one notebook for each class you have.  The folder to hold all the papers the teacher hands to you, and the notebook to take notes.  So if you have 5 classes then get 5 folders and 5 notebooks, this method has worked for me thru graduate school.

If you want to play sports or join band or something then find out what you need to do to tryout.  Other than that there isn't much too it, you are there for four years so try to get a good reputation with the teachers and students because if you get a bad rep early on then it wont be much fun.
