High School cant swim!!!!?

Question

ok well im going to an all boys catholic HS next years and i was just wondering if it is required for us to swim? There is 2 big pools outside of the school and im just wondering if it is required for all the boys to swim. i personally never learned how to swim because i live in the city and i only go in pools during the summer.

If i am required to swim what will happen? will they teach me? will i just not participate? if it helps the school is called Salesian it is located in new Rochell new york.

odds are they will divide the people into groups and provide instruction at different levels. Even the naval academy knows not all people are fantastic swimmers and makes allowances for different instructional levels.

im sure theyll teach u to how or tell u where to go so u can get swimmng lessons

it is probably for a swim team, but just in case see if someone can teach you before you go

alright uhhh... most private schools don't require swimming, but i guarantee there are some recreational activities and also maybe a couple credits involving swimming. If there are pools there... and teachers there.... i bet you can get lessons... if its privacy you want, then just check with your dean, or call them up and maybe you can have like late night lessons. I dont know much else to say, the rest is up to do to take either of these paths.

I doubt they would MAKE you swim, only if you were on the swim team. But, if your gym coach makes you, i would just tell him

In New York it is required that in gym class you take a swimming class. You can get a doctors note excusing you from it, or i'm sure you could just ask them to help you out, and you will learn fast.
