What kind of classes do you need to take? For instance like Biology, Chemistry, Algebra 2? And if anyone lives in Fresno, CA and happened to have gone to CART please tell me if there is any classes there that might support me in Internal Med. Thanks!

  1. There are not any particular high school classes that will prepare you for medical school. My suggestion would be to take some AP classes which will look good to the admissions committee at colleges. Once you get into college, medical schools have required classes that they want you to take those are called pre-requistes. They also have recommended classes for you take such as Anatomy and Physiology, Zoology, Histology, Embryology, etc. They recommend those because you will take some of them your first semester of medical school. Once you are in medical school, you will do rotations in every are of medicine and that is when people definitely decide on a field of medicine. After medical school which is 4 yrs, you will do a residency program for about 3-4 yrs and some last as long as 7 yrs depending on the specialty. Good Luck! and I hope this helped.
