High School sports physical questions (Girls only)?

I am a Freshman in high school and I am trying out for the tennis team so I picked up all the forms from school, one of them is a medical questionnaire and medical exam form. My mom made me an appointment with her doctor for next week, I have some questions about the exam form.

On one part of the form is asks the Tanner Stage and it has some roman numerals next to it. What does the doctor do for that?

Another part has Genitals as a part of the exam, I did some searching and on most school forms it usually specifies "Boys only" or something like that. Has any other girls had that checked for a sports physical?

Another part says Rectal, during my searching if an exam form has this it usually says "if indicated" next to it.

The last part says Pelvic "If indicated" how do I know if it is indicated or not?

  1. Tanner Staging is a process that measures sexual development in adolescents.  It is named after the doctor who developed it.  Tanner staging in boys involves assessing the amount and distribution of pubic hair, and examination of the p***s and s*****m.  Tanner Stage I means basically undeveloped, such as in an eight-year-old.  Tanner Stage IV means adult-stage development.  In girls, the Tanner stage is determined by examination of the b*****s, pubic hair, and possibly a visual check of the external genitals (v***a).

As the doctor examines you, he will decide whether or not to examine you rectally, vaginally, or both.

These kinds of exams don't usually take place at sports physicals or freshman physicals, but once a girl reaches age 15 or 16 she can expect full body exams, including gynecological, at each yearly physical exam.

  2. The Genitals are for boys only usually.  Unless the doctor thinks there might be something wrong, she won't examine that or the Rectal and Pelvic regions

  3. for my physical i didnt see any of those but anything done down there they normal just see to check and feel around its not painful or anything just making sure u are healthy and you might have to pee in a cup. idk but just telling from old experience
