Question:

High bar kip advice?

I am on level 5 and a high-bar kip is in my bar routine I can do a perfect low-bar kip but when I jump to the high-bar I try to do a kip then fall! any advice?

  1. Okay, swing pull your ankles to the bar and try to pull down on the bar while leaning forward and don't forget to thrust your legs down. It doesn't really matter how your glide is, just your pull.


  2. You might be getting too much swing into your high-bar kip, which is throwing off your timing.  Try to slow down your swing some and make it more like a glide.  Eventually, you'll want to do it out of a real swing, but it can help to do it out of a slower swing when you're first learning.
